Position Description:

This position primarily manages procurement activities from other Flowserve facilities, including, but not limited to Suzhou, Maraimalai Nagar, Cookeville, Springville, and Sulphur Springs. Additionally, this position will be responsible for organizing and leading procurement from suppliers based in China, specifically supporting major project opportunities. This position will also manage and support other Flowserve Supply Chain activities and initiatives as necessary. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager, is based in Raleigh, NC and has no direct reports.

  • Procurement of material to specifications defined by engineering and quality assurance, giving consideration to pricing, quality, and delivery in selecting suppliers.

  • Cross-functional horizontal and vertical management of large scope, complex projects both within and outside the company ERP system.

  • Prioritizing and expediting suppliers to support the production plan established by operations and customer defined deliveries as established by project management and inside sales.

  • Coordination of major procurement activities and requirements with internal stakeholders and Flowserve’s Global Supply Chain for qualification of new international projects.

  • Typical activities include financial evaluation, contract negotiation, manufacturing process reconciliation and documentation, packaging approval, and completion of PPAP and APQP activities.

  • Develop, lead, and implement Continuous Improvement Initiatives to streamline and improve Flowserve’s supply chain processes

  • Regularly evaluate and proactively execute corrective and preventative actions to ensure Flowserve is receiving the right products and the right time at the best price while minimizing rework.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience with and management of Asia Pacific customers and/or suppliers

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to track open issues on a variety of projects with a variety of stakeholders

  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time and workload in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines requiring competing resources

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to develop and cross-functionally implement “outside-the-box” solutions to complex problems

  • Proactive in problem prevention and resolution; anticipates potential problems or short comings in business systems and processes

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently, but also participate in group discussions and offer constructive advice within a team environment

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances and thrive in a constantly evolving business environment.


  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field

  • APICS, PMP, or PE certification

  • Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access

  • Detailed understanding of one of the following heritage product lines: Edward, Valtek, Durco, Valtek, or Hills McCanna
