Position Description:

The Value Stream Manufacturing Manager position provides leadership, coaching, and project management skills required in developing and executing Business Plan strategies to achieve best in class business performance of the assigned product lines. This position will provide leadership and direction in analyzing and developing solutions to significant manufacturing issues including, but not limited to, business planning, safety and environmental performance, associate relations, customer service, product quality, fixed and variable costs, process and product development, and continuous improvement. This position is meant not just to assure daily production is built on time to standard work but concurrently provide the direction and leadership to highlight improvement opportunities and then implement them.


  1. Strategic Level

a) Act in a leadership role toward productivity improvements that tie the continuous improvement program to the financial statements of the company

b) Recommend to the team future projects, training and interpersonal skills that will make to make cells owners proficient in Lean, Continuous Improvement and Process Control

c) Own the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) metrics for each value stream under your control

d) Continuously evaluate the overall effectiveness of the team’s efforts

  1. Tactical Level

a) Work directly with supervisor and/or cell team leads to improve process and reduce cycle time

b) Ensure that Standard Work, Standard Relationships and Standard Pathways are implemented throughout the value stream always

c) Master the use of the Performance and KPI boards to show team’s overall progress, market team efforts and if necessary, ask for help

d) Work all Rolling Action Item Lists (RAIL) within the root cause of SQDC as well as kaizen parking lot items (actions not yet complete during the kaizen)

  1. Team Level

a) Be there for your team every day; not as a defender but rather a coach; leader and driver of results

b) Assure that you are a team player and always be professional, promote honesty and enforce accountability with the highest degree of integrity

c) Support teamwork and practice corporate values

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management required


  • Manufacturing professional with 8-10 years of leadership experience and major accomplishments in a Lean environment, including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects involving salaried and/or hourly teams of considerable size, scope and complexity

  • Sufficient experience and background in accounting, MS Office/computing skills, manufacturing, human resources management, inventory control and strategic planning

  • Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results by meeting organizational objectives

  • Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities

  • Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals

  • Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change

  • Excellent written and verbal business communication skills

  • Demonstrated skills in Lean process improvements / implementation


Previous P&L ownership experience preferred.

Master’s in Business Administration or other advanced degree preferred.
