Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Experience with Flowserve Advanced Products, computers and electronics.

A minimum of three years assembly of Valtek valves.

Excellent documentation skills regarding service reports and other documentation.

Extensive travel, both domestic and international.

Must be able to troubleshoot problems, advise and make corrective repairs.

Able to work well without supervision.

Needs to interface well with customers.

Position Description:

Travel to customer locations to troubleshoot and repair all Flowserve Control Valve Business Unit products, solicit the sale and installation of spare parts. Repair and overhaul competitor’s valves when needed. Have end users rely upon and consider the technician as a knowledgeable control valve resource. This position also involves the use of valve diagnostic systems for predictive and preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment returned to the factory for failure analysis. Answer customer’s questions over the telephone or by e-mail in order to solve problems. Analyze parts and equipment that have been returned to the factory for failure evaluation. All other duties as assigned by manager.


Basic knowledge of computers is helpful.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include clear vision to pass a motor vehicle driving test since driving of rental cars is required with this job.


Indoor and outdoor environment. Can work inside and outside with temperature exceeding 100 F.

Position Requirements:


  1. Troubleshooting and repairing equipment in the field. The equipment will primarily consist of Flowserve Control Valve products, but may also include control valve products of other manufacturers.

  2. Provide technical phone support to customers

  3. Assist Flowserve QRC’s when requested and available.

  4. Assist the engineering department with failure evaluations.

  5. Initiate Non Conformance Reports (NCR’s).

  6. Conduct diagnostic testing on control valves and interpret the results. Testing can be via SoftTools, Profiler, ValveSight, FAST Test, or StarTalk XP software.

  7. Ability to configure, calibrate and commission all digital equipment manufactured by Flowserve. Proficient with HART, MODBUS and Foundation Fieldbus digital communication protocols.
