Position Description:

Basic Function:

The Business Data Architect is responsible for supporting and managing all data analytical needs identified by the Transformational Office and the global workstreams. They will work collaboratively with the global workstream teams to align these analytics with the enterprise business process architecture, business strategies and objectives. The ideal candidate should have a curiosity, desire and strong enjoyment of diving into available data for developing new insights to grow and optimize our business.

Nature and Scope:

  • Support and continuously evolve established reporting requirements for the Transformation Office and global workstreams

  • Develop a centralized data dictionary that captures the following data information: meaning, relationships to other data, origin, usage and format.

  • Collaborate with BA, business owner and IT teams to understand, translate and capture the requirements for conceptual and logical data models, interface, data sourcing and warehousing

  • Develop and refine business analytics based on historical data

  • Support the business with clear and insightful analysis applying advanced modeling techniques leveraging the data at hand

  • Continuously enhance and implement business tools, reporting and analytics so global workstreams can drive improved data accuracy and growth.

  • Conduct data mining / analytics to provide insights across global workstreams for the purposes of identifying cost savings and growing the business.

  • Conduct various data auditing, aggregation, validation and reconciliation within the data made available to you

  • Collaborate with various departments, architects, project managers and technical managers to provide estimates, develop overall implementation solution plan and serve as a lead, when required, to implement solutions.

  • Expertise in the fields of data quality, data profiling, data security, Master Data concepts, and data migration

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Serves as an enterprise-minded Flowserve 2.0 Transformer

  • Leads by example and role-models Flowserve’s values of People, Integrity, Ownership, Safety, Innovation and Excellence

  • Responsible for understanding, translating, and capturing business data requirements

  • Collaborates with Workstream Leaders from the Commercial, Growth, Product Rationalization, Aftermarket, Operations, Supply Chain, Health and G&A workstreams to ensure:

  • Business data requirements are being aligned with enterprise business data architecture best practices

  • Business data requirements include business intelligence, data warehousing, data analytics and/or reporting

  • Data projects and initiatives are conceptual and logical business models used to generate physical data models and database schema.

  • Business data aligns with the Business Process Architect, developers, other key stakeholders to design and develop high performing database solutions that maintain consistent data element definitions

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics & Finance, Information Technology or related discipline.

  • Knowledge of SQL databases and statistical software packages such as Dell-Statistica, SPSS, R or SAS is desirable

  • Seven years of experience as a Data Architect or Data Modeler

  • CIP Black Belt Certification preferred
